 Need 10 People to Beta test a game mod

Hi,
Im starting a new game tonight at midnight and wanted to get some people to test out the edits for me before I open it in order to make any necessary changes. The beta itself will be a closed beta and participants will get maxed out credits to get what they want with unlim turns and deaths(these settings are beta exclusive). Test every script fight every alien, and if you see anything that could use some work, let me know and Ill fix it.

Anyone Interested can

2. make a post on coalitiongames forum - quicker http://www.coalitiongames.com click the forum button
3. make reply here - Ill check every hour or so.

When you email me also submit a desired username and password for your account. When you log in the first time, let me know and Ill bump up credits. This beta will last until 10pm thursday night PST.

Game edits are based on Battlestar Galactica located at Coalition Server

since you are here, active in the free for all zone, may i ask you to please explain your "server rules"? if you'd like to not discuss it here so it does not become a flamewar, please icq me as i'd like to hear your reasons behind them.

Actually the rule regarding at keys is and has been obsolete for some time. It was started when I only was offering 5 nodes and people would come in and take up the nodes for days at a time.
I will go ahead and delete that one now as soon as i find tdraw.

The Blockade Rule is simply in effect to keep the games alive. my games have conditions set where victory is possible without blowing the stardock or making it impossible for people to get there.

The 3rd one simply states that these rules apply to all games and that there may be other rules for specific games.

the 4th note displays the level of force used to enforece these rules (never had to go beyone verbal so far)

5th note offers my email for reporting.

Since we are on the topic of rules, I would love to hear some other rules that servers have in place. Maybe some I should adopt. Stupidest ones people have ever seen...other than my "at keys" one.

My servers only rules. No duping. Some game specific rules, like maybe a short truce or SD blowing/blockading. But I make sure to offer games where those things (excluding duping) are allowed. So guys like Slim can blow the shiznit out of everything. Basically my motivation is to have a game for everyone.

What can I say? Live and learn, Im gonna get burned hard on this one.

The object was that there are already 12 planets existing in the game, named after the 12 colonies from BSG. The game is a capture the flag style, basically take the planets and hold them. Probably also didnt help that my aliens are going around raping every port they come across.

So the game has bombed quite nicely. But Ill try it again in a few days... with gen torps and a higher port density. Im thinking maybe a daytime start too. I think I have figured out a way where I can still have the game the way I envisioned and have the ability to make and destroy planets.

Im taking it down for the moment and will relaunch it again this evening at 8pm Ill repost shortly.

Okay, heres what I want to do. Im not a person who will bend over and try to make a game thats going to make every single player happy, I know thats impossible. But I would love to design one thats popular. I think I may have something here, but the criticism I received about the game made a helluva lot of sense, so Im going to fix it. Heres my proposed fixes

1. Gen Torps and atomic detonators are now emabled
2. Port Density increased to 65%
3. slow the port depletion rate of aliens
4. Im going to set mbbs to on, Ive never used that before and look forward to seeing what that does.
5. Im going to open the game at 5pm PST - With the game actually banging only an hour earlier to give me time to go through and create the ingame planets.

Hopefully this will make the game more popular.

Generally I do not think twice about going back to a server where I've had problems, no matter what the issue is. For some reason, I feel it's your demeaner (sp?) I like your style, and your board. I'll be back tonight at 8pm pst (Even though thats still late for the rest of us in the us ;p ) It is a heck of alot better than midnight :)

we'll give it another go, and i hope to pod some of you there!

i have to agree with graz.
you have a good attitude, take critisism well, and you are actively trying to make a game that players will enjoy.
gj!

mbbs will make it so you won't be able to change a few settings, but other than that, from a sysop standpoint, you won't notice anything else.

as for the capture the planet thing...
might i suggest instead of aliens, bang the game, keep it closed, and run a gridder for like a day and get 100% grid, then, delete the player. that will make it much harder for players to find the planets :)
(even with gayly aggressive aliens, someone who knows what they are doing should be able to find the planets rather quickly, unless its like a 2 man corp limit 500 turn game, even then, they wont last long with someone who can probe well) :)

of course, you'd have to give players a few extra figs to start with so they can actually go out and ppt, heh.

actually.... thats kind of a neat idea... a 100% renagade grid. that would be vewwwy interesting.
