Under S, for Stockton, add "See also whiney crybaby."

Alignment flipping is not a cheating tactic. LOL. And you don't drop ships in a sector you put personal figs. For instance you're a blue and another blue starts attacking stuff. You hunt them down, kill them. Now you're red. You need to flip your alignment back to blue, so you attack red personal figs.

It's also used as a strategy in quick casher or solo games. You go red, cash a lot, drop bright red figs around a class 0 or dock or coming into terra thru a higher traffic sector. They hit them, get stuck (hopefully), turn blue. If you're quick enough to catch & kill, great. If not, then they've still lost all chances for a cash-based win.

Neither are cheating and both are used a lot in mixed corp games.

CBY is not self-podding. Self podding is attacking a ship w/ corbo and eating a pod. CBY does not produce a pod, it simply kills you, resets exp to 0 and if your alignment is positive turns it -10. If it's already negative your alignment is, IIRC (I think), just cut in half. See also getting mugged to death @ dock.

I'm pretty sure you can go to the undergound as long as you're not positive alignment.

Cross podding doesn't really gain experience, when you get podded you lose a decent chunk of your exp. In most games cross podding has no benefit except lowering ones exp (easily done via other ways, too) but in games where kills count it's usually considered cheating. In games where kills don't, or there's a death lim, most won't do it. In some games, like a pirates edit, the pod is worth 500k. So you take 2 players and cross pod, sell the pods and use that cash to bust up your red to SSM level... ;)

Capped is also used sometimes for capturing another player's/corp's planet. Alien ships are also capped and either used or sold (sometimes for insane profit).

Alright, thanks guys i'll make those changes. I had morphed the Alignment Flipping from the Cross-podding description, was not sure how accurate either one was, thanks for the corrections [;)].

I do think that the Fighters can be posted in the sector or placed aboard an unmanned ship to be attacked, they both work the same way right? If so I think that should be left in the definition as an alternative, maybe it is not preferred, but is would still another possibility.

No, unmanned ships have different odds and math completely. With figs in sector
it's the number of figs you lose, not the figs in the sector, that count.
There's no reason to blow up unmanned ships since you have to pay for the ship
AND the figs.

That is a good point, will change that then.

Question: If a ship does not have a pod, it can't be Capped, right? or was that just Alien ships? I recall something about that, but can remember exactly what it was pertaining to?

Also, what is IIRC?

Manned ships (or alien ships) can't be capped podless. Unmanned can be.

iirc = if I recall correctly

Rexx,
positive 199 or less alignment lets you into the underground. The amount of experience gained by alignment flipping as you described it is minimal. It's really only done for alignemnt gains/losses.

Don't say Bwarping has a 0-turn delay factor. That's confusing. Say it takes 1 turn and has no delay, not even the minimum 250ms delay that ships have.

You got the penalties wrong on CBY. you go to 0 exp regardless of alignment, but if you are blue, you get set to -10 align, and if you are red, you loose 1/2 your align.

And you should probably drop the last sentence in Cross-podding.

Bwarping (tpad) takes 1 turn, not 0 turns. Laff. Has no delay tho, yea.

I hate to be picky about a definition that is quite close;
BOT.
I think that your def. describes a helper program. My understanding of a BOT is that several players use a BOT script, one setting his/her ship up to 'recieve' commands from subspace. The other player uses the BOT script to 'command' the other player to do a variety of pre-scripted actions. In this way, a corpmate who has to be away from the keys can have their turns run by a corpie who is at the keys.
Sorry if I'm splitting hairs, but it's an advanced bit of scripting, and it's quite baffling for a noob like me.

Strong work getting this all done up!!

That'd be a bot alright. Common bot functions... buydown, rob, saveme, run a macro, etc.

...............

I think you are closer in definition. BOT is a script that works in helpers as I understand it and they vary depending on which helper you are using. In ZOC helpers the key to log into another players BOT will likely be received on subspace to log into another players BOT and in most TWX BOTS the info will be HAILED to you. BOTS do allow other players at keys to control another player who has a BOT running. It matters very little as long as players are authorized to BOT another player. As for the Mac BOTS I can't release the info as that belongs to the coder who developed those plus I don't have the files. Your question was anything but hairsplitting. Back 'In The Day' I was in a game with a few players not seen around for awhile against 'Ice Queen [aka Hell *****]' and she kept leaving messages on Fed such as "Hi Bots" and at that time had no clue what she was talking about!
