Is there a way to make the computer "beep" when messages are dislayed on the "Sub space" channel while you are using Swath? C'mon Rexxcrow, I know you know something, lol. I have the spot checked for user alerts, Level, is Information, but still no sound when something comes over sub space. And the sound IS turned up on the computer. Or if someone knows a way to do this, give me a quick lesson on it. Thanks in advance!

I have mine set on the triggers list. If a msg comes in on SS, I have it playing a specific sound file. If a msg comes in on FedComm, I have it playing a different sound file, etc. Go to Edit>Trigger List. Add a trigger, select SSRadioMsg for SWATH event, then select Play a Sound file.
If you need more help or info, let me know. I'd be glad to assist.

Heh, Thrawn's idea is probably the best suggestion for something like that< I was thinking going through TWX, but the downside is TWX pauses until the sound is finished playing, so that could cause issues when a quick response is needed.

As far as I know nothing opens as the sound plays. I assumed SWATH handles it. If someone can verify I'm correct or not, please let me know. But nothing like Itunes or anything opens.

If you got the file from a site such as Itunes or whatnot, it may have a built in reference to always use their own products to play that file, possibly try refering to a standard windows file to see if it acts the way it should or not. Also you can check your Sounds and Multimedia Properties under the Control Panel, check under Audio Sound Playback to see what the default device is, maybe Itunes changed it to itself and if Itunes requires itself to be open to run a sound, then that would explain why it always GUI's whenever you play a sound file.

It's more likely a file association. The simplest way to fix that would be to Shift+RightClick on the .wav file, goto 'Open with', select 'Choose Program...', then highlight Media Player (or whatever) and check the 'Always use...' box. Hit okay and you've changed the association (and icon) in Windows.

So SWATH then reads the association from your Window associations then? Good info to note for future reference.

One more thing, does your "Personal settings" setting for "Page on Messages" have to be turned "On" or "Off"?. I'm thinking "On", but maybe i'm wrong.

My User alert setting is set to Information and the "play a sound for the bell character" is checked. The "play user alert sound" on mine is not checked. My trigger sounds work...
