Well, if we all corp up, we might constitute the entire game. Got to find someone to play against! Also depends on the corp limits. I'm always game to play with new people. Thrawn,.. My aim is to gain some experience, then maybe I can help in that academy of yours. Not sure what I'd have to offer right now other than a monitor.
If you don't want to die quickly, stay away from games already a few days old. You might be able to get away with not being SD quickly in a turn game, however an unlimited is almost guaranteed death if it is being played by corps - solo players you might live as long as they are AFK.
As for the various combos - swath-twx is the one I have used for a few years and never had any issues (except for losing my triggers sometimes). I've tried the ZOC-TWX combo, but it really isn't to my liking. That is why some drive Fords and some drive Chevys tho.
Also, stay away from unlimited MBBS games where the regen is 5% and rob delay is on... (hint)
Lol ouch......
I am hoping that was not to me. I know I made sure the TWGS ScoreKeeper changed the rob delay to off in the rebangs. I thing just the other games I have may need to be changed.
BTW which is better? MBBS or No MBBS?
No, it wasn't directed toward you. Just the 5% regen on MBBS kind of defeats the purpose of megarobbing and the rob delay kills a red's pure cashing. I played that game for a while, got out of room with the rubber walls today.
MBBS is good in a turn game with a mixed corp. It can be used in an unlim, but usually other methods of cashing are used - can be good tho depending on the edits. If I remember right, MBBS generally doesn't allow flipping a player with fighters - could be wrong on that.

One of the things I was looking to ask the veterans was to see if anyone would be interested in being a part of the TradeWars Academy OCS? What I mean is there are players that want to learn to be good players, and there are players that have the years and experience to teach. I'd like to match a vet with a player needing a teacher/mentor, or whatever you wish to call it.
If there are players interested in assisting with the Academy as a teacher/instructor, please drop me a line to let me know. I would love to put people in these slots to assist. Being in the military, I can't be everywhere, and I need the help of the TW Community to make this project a success. You can reach me via the following:
E-mail: twgs@outpost-4.com
Private Msg on EIS
ICQ: 209782543
MSN: thrawn702@hotmail.com
My hope was to unite the community and close the gap between new players and experienced. I felt it was a great way to create a great core of TW players, and forge some excellent friendships along the way.

A lot of it depends on what you consider 'experienced'.
Are they good at using scripts, or are they good at what makes trade wars trade wars.
50% of what people consider 'experienced' is attitude alone. Getting in, getting it done. Recovery from defeat, thinking on their feet etc.

That was a speedy response Velocity.... At times it means helping folks get set up with tools such as ICQ, ZOC and Rev-Helper before taking the next step of setting up TWX... Apologies to those who prefer Swath/TWX combination or other setups.... I have both ZOC and SWATH registered and even though SWATH has pretty little 3-D maps it also has drawbacks other than being slower... TWX seems to run at same speed regardless of the helper that the TWX shell is working with...please correct me if I am wrong!

The only thing I find swath slow at is it's Java Scripts. Otherwise it ceeps up find. Macro triggers (auto) are a little slow also. But I don't use them much. I should (just ask my corpies) but I've not done that yet.

you should really get into using macs, and being able to set them up on the fly, Their really isn't much of a comparason between a script and a mac, the macs are quicker, and are always good to know, plus by learning to write them on the fly, also will help learning some of the smaller game mechanics.

Macs are good for graphic artists I'm told, therefore TW is not suitable for them.

My ICQ is on here under my profile add me Run and I will help ya, all that have offered to help all have different abilities that you could learn from and would be versatile, Which in my opinion is the best way to learn and play the game is learn different tatics from people and figure out which way u feel more comfortable with from each player and combine them as you.. If that makes sense.. And as for you bait you should have played BYOC! laff

Programming in applesauce is very difficult from what I hear. It's hard to get the code to gel just right.
