Tonight I finally realized why EIS is in such turmoil.

We have a problem with the script area.
Parrothead has marked someone's announcement of a new script as "important".

IMHO moderators are like referees.... they can enforce the rules, but to make an arbitrary decision on what gets marked important is a flagrant violation maybe not of the rules because the moderator made up the rules but to show favoritism to one person over others is way out of line.

He deleted my post as I had expected and it deserved to be deleted but that was just my way of testing him.

I have made a few sarcastic posts here that I probably wish I hadn't made and I accept any and all backlash that comes with that. But having a mod mark something as simple as a script announcement important leaves me wondering what I have to do to get something marked as "important". Do I have to worship at the altar of Parrothead? Do I have to write the next great script. Do I have to endure troubleshooting of someone else's script? If so I have done 2 of the 3 things I mentioned above. And I am sure that there are a lot more people that have done the same 2 that I have. But I think Lonestar has done all 3 of them to get marked as "important". I REFUSE to worship at the altar of Parrothead so therefore I guess I will fail at getting marked as important.

ParrotHead.... I realize you are new here and you "volunteered" for this but please act professionally... check your personal feelings at the door and be neutral towards all people. And just to reiterate I am NOT complaining about my post going poof I expected it to.

Umm, you thought wrong. I didn't ask to be marked anything. pHead actually edited my post (hence the edited for content at the bottom). Not a thing I can do about it. He thought original version of my post had 'smack' content in it and 'cleaned' it much like the character Winston Smith in quasi fictional story of 1984. The only difference between 'free' scripts and the computer software you used to make your posts, is that you actually paid to debug their stuff. Think about it.
 
 
 

LoneStar my complaint was not with you.... It is about the unprofessional conduct that Parrothead has shown.

IMHO preferring one script over another is borderline criminal. A simple hey look this script over would suffice. Not hey look here I think this script is important. MODS should have no opinion about what they're modding.... just whether it falls into the realm of being for/against the rules.

Course when the mods get to make the rules they can just do whatever the Fsck they want to.


I will settle for a public apology and a self-imposed ban of 24 hours from modding but don't think that this will teach Parrothead a lesson because he's important (he's a MOD)

FYI- there are other TW forums where the users can be listened to. Share information about the game and much more.

Some of the TW players have put up a nice forum for users due to all the drama here. Such as, moving, deletion, editing of posts, banning of users and simply just not caring what we think and want. People don't have to stay here.

Rules are posted at top of forum gentlemen. You were sent messages to edit them yourselves and choose to ignore the messages. BTW everyone who wishes to provide scripts to the public will recieve an annoucement mark. This is a service to the user of the scripts that something they might want is available. Sings annoncement for his new Citkilla was posted as an announcement for three days. All authors will be treated the same.
Other Fourms are available such as Open discussion and Smack. Helpers and Scripts Forum is for Content posts only.

In all fairness, your post was pretty inflamatory... designed to push buttons, in an area that's not built for it. You posted your message in the scripts area, not smack talk.

My script on the announce... that script is a community beta test. Anyone that wishes to download it can do so, test it out, and contribute to the end design. I've already received several good suggestions, some I've added, some I've decided against. I encourage you to download it and test it yourself, maybe you'll gain more by contributing than going red in the face.

If phead wants to promote other new scripts the same way, what's the problem? It's the scripts and helpers area! Shouldn't we be promoting scripts there? If he was erasing scripts posts because he didn't like the author, or erasing scripts because he didn't want others to have them... well then that would be a problem. Yet I haven't seen a single indication of that, and it even seems contrary to the facts.

There are numerous places where you can post. I recently put up a script upload/download area on my site. This is because grimy has been unreliable lately (it's back up for now), slow and people need a backup. You're welcome to come there and post, too. But if you want to start rambling about this or that... keep it in the open discussions area or it'll get deleted all the same.

From what I understand there are some written rules in the works that will be posted soon. Some of these will concern user behavior, others will concern admin and mod behavior. With any luck these will straighten out some of the randomness. If not, then rise to the occasion and start contributing to the community on other sites to build afew strong alternatives.

Let me get this straight..You are complaining because the script/helper forum moderator decided to mark a forum announcement "important" that refered to a new script being released....

I think your just trying to start some drama now.  Instead of complaining you should be congratulating him for not only doing his job..But doing his job WELL.
Good job ParrotHead!!! Maybe with some recognition some of our scripters will release more scripts!!! Awsome work bro!
 

I dont understand why you would complain about the promotion of a public script. Sing is providing his hard earned work to the public, free of charge. Parrothead has stated that if you were to release one of your scripts it would receive the same treatment. So what is the problem?

I have to agree, I mean, there are literally 100's of things that these idiots are doing wrong that you can complain about, and you complain about favortism that may or may not even exist?

For example, I'll complain that parrothead, instead of just making the script writer's initial post an announcement (you should have no problem doing that) he posts a brand new post, linking to a thread that is literally side by side.
THEN he goes to other sites, and links to his own link, rather than directly to the original script writer's thread.
Thereby making people have to click a link, to click a link, to click a link, to finally get to the script.
Um, hi, way to make it horribly annoying for anyone to get the script, while trying to make it look like you're actually doing something constructive and padding your post count.

It's not mine or any other member here to decide whether this complaint has merit or not.  This would be up tho the mods & admin to decide this.  It's nice to have a place to go in case I have a complaint and I do want to thank the mods and admin for providing this area.  Let's not take advantage of it by having discussions here.  If you want to argue over right or wrong, start a thread in the Smack talk forum.  This will be my last post here unless I have a complaint.

So you are saying its not okay to complain about a complaint? The point of this forum is to NOT take it to smack but to discuss the issues here without the attending personal attacks that infest the smack forum. If you choose not to post here I guess that could be good or bad depending on who is doing the reading but to tell people to take it to smack instead of discussing it here is at least shortsighted if not totally counter to the reason for having this forum

Well actually I was waiting for you in another thread Stocky. Been a couple days for this same old drivel. You are the BEST player in the game Stocky hands down. Getting beat by you is a pleasure. Feel free to do it over and over. Then boast about it. I am sure everyone is waiting with held breath for your reports. Personally I hang on every word you say as any sage wisdom from the GURU of TRADEWARS is always welcome.
