No , that was the way it always was .. it could indicate your in any game
even if it did not exist ... it will also show your in a game if your at the
T-menu of a game ....

The # is the only real useful key here for watching.

On the beta, when I was just keeping connected but not in a game it would display like this:

Node 2 Game : Cruncher
Node 6 Game H : Xanos


Other times I'd see somone in a game menu but when I entered the game they were not on the # list.

So, is this when player (.) is gleening info from the high score list?

That has happened 4 years. It is an anomaly that seems to show up every now and then. Very random, and most do not see it since they just log in games and do not sit at the menu.

Well, it's time to get it fixed ;)

While JP is "on fire!" Can you guys think of any other anomolies that he can address?

So ok, this is fixed. When a player is in a game, the node points to a game object for that game, but when the player is at the menu, the node points to a "no game" object that's supposed to be initialized to an empty game. At some point, this object changed from a record to a class, so the node ended up pointing to undefined data. Whenever that data had a game id between 'A' and 'Z', it would show as player in that game. Otherwise, it would say "menu". That's why the behavior was so odd. Most of the time it would appear right, but in rare cases, the random data would have an 'S' or something. Strange bug. Thanks for reporting it!

It will always show as "Game A" or whatever when the player starts the game, whether they're in the game or not. TWGS doesn't know anything about the state of the player within a game.

Very nice.. now it says I'm at the menu, which I am.

Until it becomes an abuse and I have to fix it to deal with those who aren't willing to follow the rules of the gameop.

Am I missing something? What possible advantage would sitting at the game prompt give a player? The only thing I could think of would be filling up nodes, but anyone running that few nodes is probably running a private server as invitation only.

Either hogging nodes or using a script to monitor activity and circumvent game time limits. Basically, nothing good ;)
