nope i read you loud and clear. i was asking if this feature would be implemented. but using XML files would be pointless to me if i cannot use them into my blog. what's the point of asking for a feature that i cannot use? that is what i ment by seeing if my blog can import xml.

You maybe able to setup a task scheduler event in windoz to run a program to upload the .txt info files to your blog. Or write a .bat file that twgsv2 runs
at maintenance to send the info to your blog.

YES!! or a standard cvs (coma separated value) file. It is very difficult to get tables and data separated for use with sql. XML would also make for easy export for use in html.

Game D Twstats.txt output:

[Version]
Major Version=3
Minor Version=21
[Bigbang Settings]
Gold Enabled=True
MBBS Compatibility=True
Random Factor=2227723103
Bubbles=True
[General Info]
Start Day=05/20/23
Game Age=123 Days
Last Extern Day=08/05/23

Add a seperator ,
[Version],
Major Version,=,3,
Minor Version,=,21,
[Bigbang Settings],
Gold Enabled,=,True,
MBBS Compatibility,=,True,
Random Factor,=,2227723103,
Bubbles,=,True,
[General Info],
Start Day,=,05/20/23,
Game Age,=,123 Days,
Last Extern Day,=,08/05/23,

If done in CVS format, SQLite (or other database) can import the data much easier and not require an extensive script or .bat file to get the data into separate tables.

Yeah, a comma is ok but if you use a | , it would be better. Commas are found in regular language expressions and might cause confusion.

It's a simple matter to write a php script that can grab details from a flat file database (basically, a text file). Place the separators properly and you can display that data just about any way you wish very simply in a web page and it would be dynamic.

I am of the mindset that you need to keep this simple. Start making sql databases required and the average player/site builder is going to have trouble. Make it easy to use and a lot more people will find it fun and doable. The data coming from a trade wars server is very straight forward and really doesn't need all the extra capabilities of a full blown database setup.

Can't you just replace the = sign with a delimiter and import that way? That's what I do with my settings parser, I use the = sign to separate key-value pairs into an associative array.

that is exactly what my thinking was but i could not think of a program, (or self written script,) that i could use to email my logs to my blog. or update my blog automaticly. if you know of a program that i could use that would do the trick i would more than likely thank you for that.

or perhaps a link to where i could find such a program that does the trick i need that can do it for me.

because of my illness my mind is like mush when it comes to programing in a language i have not used in years. but i guess it is like riding a bike. (nope scratch that, since i cannot ride a bike anymore either... because of my other disability... Dang.)

Yeah, I could see that working as well.

If you let me know exactly what data you want pulled from the logs, and exactly how you want it formatted to make it suitable to upload to your blog, I'll write a Java program you can call from a script or batch file.

If Blogger has an XML Schema for uploads, that would be an ideal starting point.

Here is how I would do it:

1. have a website that allows logging into the game. um like java's jta.
2. Have a php program that can log the data. ( actually javascript could log data too, i believe )
3. Save it to an xml page.
4. Reuse data as needed.
(blog system or whatever )

subject: previous days events of "Game Name"
Body: (logs of the game for the previous day.)
TO: email address provided by the email to blogger feature.

the date and time of the post are taken care of by blogger.

the script would be perfect if i could just set it up to take one days events at a time.

but how i would be able to do this is more of a novelty then a need. i just thought it would be a nice feature to have. but since it is more trouble than it's worth i have been thinking of withdrawing this thread.

I don't think it's more trouble than it's worth. I could use it as an opportunity to write a tutorial about how to use a lexer.

But I need a little more detail about the output format you want. Could you post an example of exactly what the output file should look like?

it did not turn out how i expected it to since it used all the formating of a copy and paste of my email (using yahoo mail.) it would be nice if it had its own formatting. or if it could just send plain text instead in the body.

Oh, the sysop log? I thought you were talking about the daily log the players see when they log in.

the gamestat.lst in each game folder is the one I'm after. My site has forums and blogs for posing everything else. I want to just be able to grab the stat info and load it into a descriptive web page (within an assigned group) to give the details on each game running.

There are already three ways to separate the data, just need to format it in some usable way. The headers can be between the [ & ] and the data itself can be sorted by the =

i did mean the Game logs but all i could find was the Sysop logs. since i did a quick copy and paste to my blogger account through the email account that i gave JP i just wanted to show that it can be done. as to how to do it automaticly is the question i wish could be answered.

i will be deleteing the entry as it has now served it's perporse.
