This is the problem. You are trying to fix the problem the
wrong way. Making it easier to 'read' a game in progress
and teach how Not to start in a game that is clearly over.

You could, of course, put everything on a toggle in this game.
Most of it already is, but why turn off everything when your
goal is teaching new or returning players.

This is a bad idea.

They will learn, at thier own pace, in their own time.

Since I've started my server in July, I've had at least 25 unique players visit. My server also only hosts Classic style, mostly stock games. I have 4 games open and reset one each month with advanced notice. So, the longest they have to wait to "try again" is 4 weeks.

Each game is progressively just a little more difficult than the previous one in terms of turns, turn banks and gold bubbles or standard universe bangs.

I'd really like to be able to advertise that there is ONE game in all of TW that can only be played with Swath. ONE little game that has TWX disabled (as much as toggeling off abort display may.)

But apparently the paranoia in this crowd thinks this is too much to ask.

Actually I'm curious how you're basing your claims?

Names? Ip's?

I feel kinda sad for you that even with multiple people (many whom don't harass or otherwise give you grief) telling you that they are sick of your ego; you still refuse to acknowledge that you may be out of line.

Just saying you've eluded to the dead horse thing like three times in a row ;-) The only people I've added to ignore in the 10 years in this forum is Cruncher and BigD.

You know better than to ask for Names and especially IP's.

Some playing are well known to this community, most are not. Most don't visit this forum, but a few have decided to follow my blog.

As for being out of line... are you my Daddy now? LOL

I'm just a stuborn Old Irish Woman.

That's not what I asked.... I asked you how your basing your unique visits.. Off Names, IP's?

I'm also Irish and Married to a Irish lass what's your point?

In my reply to you, I stated multiple people and yet you individualized it, apparently you're not only stubborn but blissfully ignorant. Either-way I will less than graciously concede the thread to you. Least i contribute further to the bickering that I believe drives people away from this forum and eventually the game.

Happy New Year

A combination of names and IP's. Some will have static IP's and different charactors in each game - I count that as one player.

Some players don't have static IP's, some play from work, same name, multiple IP's all in one game - I count that as one player.

I'm not "padding" my numbers if that's what you're asking.

Over 25 unique players in just the games I have open right now. I didn't keep track on the first few games. Of course, since my games are set to delete inacives in 30 days, you won't see them all on the CLV.

Players are courious, they are coming and looking. Not bad numbers for just a few months, and I understand the connection is nice and fast.

He's not inquiring about you padding, he's wondering how
you got your stats. Hey, and 25 people stopping by means
very little. It's the number who join up and actual become
players of the game. The ones who just stop by and then
move on? Those are ones who might have responded better
to some competition. We'll never know until they start to
swell our ranks, eh?

The chances of you getting a half dozen actual competitive
players to add to our meager community hardly makes it
worth riddling the game with toggles....

They most likely won't all compete at your level. Who says everyone who plays must play cut-throat?

Nope, no whining, just leaving. You cannot argue that a great many players left '02 - '04.

And that was because of TWXProxy, or they had a real life to deal with? Were they having "learning curve" issues?

And the same can be asked of your idea- who says we must now adjust to play with a baby bottle?

I'm not asking any player here to play with the toggle I'm proposing. I'm just trying to create a game environment that's better suited for new and returning players.

Like it or not, there are script kiddies who enjoy killing newbies. If the term script kiddies insults you, it should. It insults all of us who care about this game and community and growing the player base.

25 visitors over 4 months is garbage, most of those are people just looking to see what games u have!! Once u have 25 active users online at once like UTW <--- as much as i hate to say it, but those are numbers to compare to!!

Farley is no longer a member here but has logged on to your server many of times and the most he has seen is 1 user online, which wouldnt surprise me if that was you!
