Kav Good to know that some of us still play it old school And some of us still host old school. Old School is through a WWIV board as a door game. If you use anything newer than that, you are not a purist! Now you darn kids, get off my lawn!

Re: Who's still alive??
While I'm in this thread, would anyone happen to know what happens to a game if a system is shut down for a while? A while as in weeks, maybe months. When the game is turned back on, does it pick up from where it left off or is the universe aged with the time period that it got shut down, meaning more aliens and more money in ports, for example. I should know the answer to this question, considering I've been involved with Trade Wars since its heyday in the late 90's, but it's been a while

Re: Who's still alive??
In my experience, if the PC is still on, the game will age.

Re: Who's still alive??
Yes the game will age, which means there will be more aliens, assuming they are configured to get stronger with age. There are other things that only happen when the game is running. For instance, port construction will not advance unless extern is run. I don't think ports will have money unless traders or aliens are actually visiting them, but they will be maxed on product. In other words, it is a lot more complicated than you might think.

Re: Who's still alive??
Thank you for the clarification, gentlemen. It's all coming back to me now. I banged a game on my local machine last night and started playing by hand. It took me a little bit to figure things out, but it didn't take me too long to get the hang of things once I got going. First time I went to the ship yard and the hardware emporium, I actually had to look at the menu to see what's available But the second time that I visited both shops, I didn't have to look at the menu. I just remembered the corresponding letter and off I went. It's just like riding a bicycle
