This is not an area to debate the pros and cons of proposed features. It is an area for people to suggest new features for either TW or TWGS. I will either add the proposed feature to my planned features list, or explain my reasons for passing on the feature at this time. Features added to the list can be voted on so I can gauge people's interest.

I know I should just put my head down and keep quiet, but I think it would be "better" if blues lost alignment instead of experience for mixing.

I think this is a great idea. The whole point of blues losing exp in a mixed corp is, in theory, to "punish" them for associating with reds. In reality, it's a benefit of being in a mixed corp.

Reds value exp, Blues value align. Taking exp from a blue means nothing. Taking align means a lot more.

It would change the calculation a bit on switching sides during games.

I don't think that would be much of a deterrent either. Maybe if the feds could reposes their planets, or colonist would be fed up and leave. Still wouldn't mater though, since you can easy kick the reds out before ex-tern, and let them back in afterwards.

JP was considering a feature that would allow portions of ex-tern to run hourly, or even continuously. As it stands now though, you can break the rules 23 hours a day!

I kind of like this idea. Master Blaster used to have a script he would run that would clear fedspace haz and MSL blockades four or five times a day. While I've certainly used those tactics myself, I also think they're stupid and make the game a lot less fun.

23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds, actually.

People rarely expect you to reverse your align 5 seconds before tern and show up fedsafe to kill them when they attack someone at Terra. :)

Like it too...

Even if evils stayed the way they are but blues lost alignment the same way exp works. At extern reds go zero exp, blue go 0 alignment and keep exp..

It'd suite the modern meta of the game and add a little more difficulty to it.

I think is like pulling at strings. making this change is going to cause other problems, some unforeseen that would need fixing too. best to leave in ball in tact. the system isn't perfect but it works.

It would definitely cause problems maintaining a Federal Commision! Let's get those lazy do-gooders out of their Imperial Starships! Lol!

I was just thinking that an alignment penalty that is a percentage (like the exp penalty) would not really hurt a blue either, but taking them to zero would. They can just buy it back, but that costs credits.

This is slightly off-topic, but SOMEWHAT related:

I'd rather get TWO experience for playing my turns today and NO alignment change.

Edit: ...as a red.

Heh, blues are actually kind of rewarded, being made FedSafe again. Though I think alignment drops down too, by a percentage, yes?

Loosing all alignment would be a good deterrent for those in Fed ships and that are AFK on bot-duty, but a few creative script functions would fix that anyway, would not even really cost any turns, actually.

It may cost a few credits, but not as much as it cost a red to build enough XP to cash effectively. Depending on the game, it can cost a red several million credits to get back to suitable level, whereas, a blue looking to gain 500 alignment could attack just a few of a corpies red personal fighters, depending on alignment. At worse, it will cost the blue half a mil in credits.

Another thought. If you truly want to penalize a mixed corp, make everybody in a mixed corp no longer fedsafe, regardless of experience. That would certainly make it more difficult to provide furbs or milk Terra.
