Ok, haven't really played truce games very much in the recent past, and was wondering what the take is on planets n open space. Not in a bubble gate, just scattered around. My best recollection is that planets in open space are fair game, is that correct? I can't find anything on the server rules except what a base is (dead end or bubble gate). |

I've seen truce described as ANY planet invasions are considered a violation but I've also seen it where an invasion only involves bases with bases being defined as figged with at least one planet with a cit advancing. Personally I think a planet out in the open is fair game but I'm a douchebag so take my opinion with a grain of salt. All depends on the sysop though. When are we gonna have our DM rematch Prom? I've been "honing" my skills which is to say I watch SG bot me all day |

I clearly state on my rules page the following game Z. I guess best bet is when in doubt ask the sysop. "Base = 1 D Fig, 1 Beacon and 1 Planet w/ a Level 1 Citadel." |

so by this definition: Quote: "Base = 1 D Fig, 1 Beacon and 1 Planet w/ a Level 1 Citadel." your base is anywhere you want, including surrounding Dock? you could just ring Fed (1-10) and call the game... |

As long as you fall under this rule No more than 100 sectors figged, combined Corp & Individual. It is a friendly no-human combat game. But there is only 1 planet that goes L1 on day one and it is not easy to pop one so that might not be a working solution |

Dont you run your sweeper script too Toy? So no planets and no more than 1 fig in the sectors surrounding dock or am I just thinking of your builder? |

The sweeper of planets and such was never needed in that game so it was only the sector count of 100 that was being monitored. I only randomly check the 100 count if I find it over and the player won't fix it I start the script and let it clean up the mess. |

You know, the more I think on this the more I am leaning towards "Truce = NO combat". No ship to ship, no invasions, etc. Or let me put it this way, no OFFENSIVE moves. Leaving mines, fotoning someone, pdropping, etc is okay as long as there is no damage inflicted on the other player. But then again "damage" is not even a good word to use. If someone fotoned me and I lost my turns during truce I would consider it damage as it affects my ability to play for the next hour. If the truce rules are not clearly defined then of course you're going to get people like me and KB looking for loopholes. I think Toy does a good job defining the rules for a No-Combat game but even then I know I for one was always playing the guard house lawyer and looking for ways to take advantage. I want to say it was because of me he allowed fotoning other players but I'm sure he'll knock me down and claim it as his own. It's not like truces last the entirety of the game so there's really no reason to invade even that one planet out in the middle of no where. That's just my opinion for today. Tomorrow I'll probably come out on the Truces Should Be Banned side. |
