An email I got from someone named Bill Farley.... He joined a game, didn't do it right, got killed (not by me) and then started sending hate mail.

Since I take my reputation for honestly very seriously, I say if you're going to make the claim, you better bring your best game.....

Obviously not too long because sysops ALWAYS play their own server even when they say they aren’t. If they don’t, what’s the point? I started this game just like everyone else. I did not kill any of them, they killed themselves. Are you one of them? LOL, you obviously didn’t do your homework before you just popped in and started playing. This isn’t my game, I didn’t build it, it’s an import. Unlike you, I read the stats, looked at how it was setup and played accordingly. I bet you don’t even know there’s a planet that makes a million figs a day? Or a dread you can buy that holds 100k figs with 255 holds and twarp?

As far as my previous tyrannical behavior, I have the right to get pissed off. I was playing this game when you were a fxxxxxxxxx spermaziod in your drug addict fathers dick. If you want, I’ll be more than happy to PUBLICLY post the entire game log so everyone can see the mistakes you made that got you killed.

I may not like the way the game has developed over the years but I guarantee you would NEVER stand a chance against me on my worst day...

Now that you opened this can of worms, I'll post my opinion. Reputable sysop NEVER play on thier own server, and if they do they announce it in the forums, on the main screen of the server, and anywhere else they think the players might miss the announcement. I personally would NEVER play in a game that ANYONE is playing locally, let alone the sysop with tedit privalages. However, it is your perogative to play on your own server, but I wouldn't expect a lot of traffic other than yourself and a few players that don't know any better.

I agree, a sysop/gameop should never play on their own server, but how do you know a sysop isn't playing on his own server as "John Smith"?

Most sysops that play under alias's on thier own server have an uncontrollable need to win. They'll give themselves away eventually. Fig count doubles in 1 day, they fly around in an 80 million dollar ship as a blue on day 2, they have a level 6 planet when it not enough time has passed for it to be possilbe, ect.
I even caught one sysop that had a level 6 planet with 2 days to go for the final citadel. Now that was a dead give away. The signs are usually there if you know what to look for.

If the sysop advertises they are playing then enter at your own risk. MB has clearly stated he is going to be playing in at least one of his games, if you don't like it move on or run your own server. Simple logic solves 98% of all problems.

Living in a world where you expect deceit is no way to live. I don't hide the fact that I'm in a game. I ALWAYS use my own name (Master Blaster) and it is well known it's my server as my name is all over it.

Now, lets really look at this and my reputation. Other than this latest post, I besiege anyone to find any post ANYWHERE on the net where I've ever been caught or EVEN ACCUSED of cheating my server. I don't do it, it makes no sense and if you think I can't play without resisting the urge to 'take a peek' then you are someone I would never want to play against to begin with.

Of course, there are situations that require a sys not play, like established tourneys where the outcome matters and in those cases, I would be more than happy to be an observer and game host. MOST TW games aren't like that, MOST TW games are just a few people logging in to waste some time playing around.

Another key point to make here is if you run a server and you never actually play the games on your server, you never learn anything and can't take any steps to make your games better because you never see problems that others might see and never report.

Last point and this will be my final post on this subject.

I provide this server free of charge for the enjoyment of the game. It costs you nothing to play it even though I have expenses supporting it every single month. If you don't like playing against the sys, then don't. I won't take offense. What I do take offense to is baseless cry baby charges that I am a cheat JUST BECAUSE I AM THERE. Making those kinds of claims will get my ire up and I will defend myself to the fullest every single time.

Seems like the goods ganged up on me today and wiped me out. Good for them....

For one, I never called Master Blaster a cheat. What I did do was point out the obvious and said that most people that play on thier own server have a huge advatage, ping being the most obvious advantage. The 2nd thing a pointed out was that many sysops can't resist the temptation to jump into "tedit" when things start going south for them. The 3rd thing I pointd out was that most players won't play in a game where the sysop is active. I for one are one of those players. The odds are just too high that weird things will start happening and I for one don't want to spend time in a game like that just to get the shaft later. Expect accusations from the players that do play on your server if you win because that's just the way it is.

P.S. It was Master Blaster that brought this crap to this forum and started this subject, so don't be surprised when others disagree and express thier opinions.

If you've been there today, you'll note that I got my clock cleaned and am out of the game for the day.

Expecting accusations is one thing I won't agree with. If you want to 'accuse' then it's the same as calling me a cheat. If you want to call me a cheat, then bring the proof. Also for those that don't think we can spot it, using a proxy to hide your IP so you can play with several accounts always gets noticed (and NO, I'm not talking about you Big D, lol) I got one player logging in from about a half dozen places across the US right now but to me it's just a game and he's such a terrible player, he's not really using it to his advantage like he should be anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Oh BTW Big Farley, My server is hosted somewhere on the East coast. I buy space on a server farm for my business and put this game up in a small corner of the desktop. I play from my local machine in Denver. I gain no ping advantage that way....

Actually compared to your childish attitude in this thread, I thought I was being pretty calm. You are the one that is using foul lanquage and getting upset. If you feel the need to get more aggressive here I can ablige you though.
1st. No, I'm not Farley. I'm sure there's more than 1 person in this forum that thinks you are a dumb aaaasssss.
2nd. Yes, if you have the ability to cheat, you can expect people to accuse you of cheating. That's the way it is and has always been.
3rd. Yes, it's just a game, but if you get caught cheating it can become a much more aggressive game.
4th. If you want to argue the fact that it's acceptable by most people in this forum think that sysops should play on thier own server, you're going to lose this one.
I'm guessing that at least 70% will say no. Give a poll a shot, I'm sure you get your answer.

I play on my server on one public game clearly displayed. I'm working on an original edit and want to play it to see how it feels. I also run that edit in game slot T, which I don't play.

If you don't trust your sysop, don't play in their game or on their server.

When playing in highly competitive games, I'll have the same edit on my server, but not announced on the public menu. My teammates typically run dupes in that one to test with. My remote game-op and I do get into tedit to "fix" things or setup a scenario to test. Most of the times these games are open and occasionally players find their way in . They are forewarned that they just walked into a testing game.
