Yes, someone has to turn the bot on, and someone has to tell the bot what to do I think I liked it best back in 1989 when only one player was in the game at a time. |

I understood the hating on bots... before I actually used one. Bots =/ magic. Someone has to tell the bot what to do all the time, it doesn't decide anything or run on auto. It's just a faster and easier way to access and run the scripts you need to play the game efficiently. The bot hate is pretty much just hating on the difference between one-keystroke scripts and having to click 3 or 4 times to pull it up. |

Unless you have someone talented enough that writes team bot scripts... now there's magic! But yeah telling all the bots what to do takes a lot of focus and concentration so you don't kill someone. |

The level of scripting currently accepted by the community is crazy... but that is an entirely different ball of worms... Bots are basically a legalized way of running dupes... If I can get 4 of my friends or newbs to fire up bots, then I can run a whole corp all by myself... |

Quote: Bots are basically a legalized way of running dupes... If I can get 4 of my friends or newbs to fire up bots, then I can run a whole corp all by myself... That is quite an oversimplification. 'basically legalized duping' I'd put some cash down on a player corp vs a bot corp. Any corp worth their stuff would mangle a single player trying to run a corp by bot. You can't really believe this? And the other: Quote: the level of scripting currently accepted by the community is crazy... What choice does the community have? It's a text game. It is already being routed through a comm or gui 'helper' of some kind. Even the anti-automagic types use some kind of helper with player side scripting vs. macros at the minimum. Scripts have kept this game alive. I'll defend them to the end. |
