http://hyperspace.forums1.net
seems to have 2 users and one is the admin.

Looks like everyone was purged from the database.
I recall an email yesterday saying I got purged due
to inactivities.

Another one bites the dust.

At least this forum has enough activity on it
it may stay alive for a long time yet.

Yeap, Big D's last post was that he was shutting it down.

I got two e-mails, first was my account was deleted, "You can contact the administrator to know why it has been deleted."

And then a couple days later the forum was closed, my account is inactive but being saved in their database. The forum is closed, but apparently not deleted?

Yeah Its Time.

There are many people who didn't like and would never accept V2. Most of them are good people but others just caused a lot of animosity. JP Took the game the direction that he wanted to take it. Its time for the people who can't accept that to move on. Alot already have and thats sad we lost some good players.

Its time to move forward with V2 and leave all the negativity behind.

If only....

Wish we could get a stable version of 2.0 without the current bugs, regardless of if people agree on the changes I think we can all agree that the current revision is far from finished.

Well thats my point moving forward...I think one of the reasons other then having to earn a living JP went MIA was all this animosity.. Yes V2 needs work. but its never going to be taken care of with this v1 vs v2 hostility. Ive seen some very harsh words said. i did 3 tours in Iraq and didn't see as much hostility as i do on this forum sometimes.

Specifically, what bugs are you referring to?

The ones JP and I have discussed and the ones freely available to find with the search button. Nothing personal I'm just tired of the cicular arguement that surrounds the stability and efficacy of v2.

@Star - Thanks for your service, I tend to agree that there is a certain level of thick skin required to survive the Trolls that visit this forum. I'm not sure I'm in agreement as to why JP hasn't come back or continued work on v2 but either-way it doesn't help to foster a healthy community to have constant and pointless bickering.

So, what is so wrong with V2 exactly? Is it namely the imposed delays? Because, I was playing around with the TWGS settings and if you set them to the minimum, it no longer seems to really affect scripting in the game.

One, thing I think that really needs to be changed, be it any version, is the alignment formula concerning killing off sector fighters of a same aligned player, it is too easy to flip a blue into a red that way (as the dynamics of the game have since changed with script gridding), while also stranding them if they are in a Fed only ship; though the formula for attacking manned/unmanned vessels should probably remain the same. Either that or change the rule about Fed only ships, such as you can remain in them if you get flipped red, but once you xport out, you cannot get back in until commissioned again.

In addition to the delays, which can be turn off. Other new features were added, and not fully tested. There are new bugs, and no one really knows what they are exactly.

I agree with the alignment. I believe it was much harder to flip on the HVS MBBS version.

yeah i think one of those bugs cropped up here in the ice tourney since im pretty sure this game is the hardest pounding v2 has gotten in a singe game. A Locked file issue came up and kicked 4 players from on corp out of a game. all in the same sector. after talking with a few sysops i think the issue has something to do with game lag. a lot of players on(27 in this case) caused an abnormal bit of lag which caused the problem. rebooting the server did fix the problem. weather it will happen again? who knows. but I also think having bettter internet will fix the problem which I will have for next years game.

I'm guessing that it is a much older bug and would require a transaction database design to fix it. Probably not related to lag either. Just caused by an excessive number of players being in the same sector at the same time, all trying to access the same database files at the same time.
