Maintenance.
We called it "Command Maintenance" in the Army and that stuck with me.
You write like moving colonists to another planet is another thought.
I have always done that.
At what point is enough enough?

I have over 300 planets in one game and I pretty much log in, find a planet that not only has too many colonists, but is maxed out.
It can't produce anything and the population can't grow.
I create a new planet, move over the colonists, upgrade the citadel, and then start another one for the rest of the colonists.
It is time-consuming and I wish there were a script for it.
Then again, I wish that I could just run a world-trade script indefinitely.
I play on one server where my script runs so fast, I have difficulty seeing what it is doing, and SWATH doesn't really respond.
I need to periodically check, stop the script, and deposit almost a billion credits in my citadel.
In games with built-up aliens, abandoned mines, etc., I need to check periodically, resume my trading script, reconnect for no apparent reason, etc.
