Kokua 0.7 adds a new "linking" capability to the terminal window. It allows you to click on a sector's warps and either choose an option from a popup menu (right click) or move straight-away (left click). For a menu, I'm trying out a radial or pie menu (also used in games such as Neverwinter Nights) to make selections quicker and easier. Finally, as before, most all actions in Kokua actually trigger or script TWXProxy to make common operations quicker and easier.

I'd like to hear some feedback on what people think about these radial menus (other than they are ugly ) and how "linking" and context menus could be used in other areas of the game. One example of future work would be the ability to simply click on a player to run a default attack script or right click to select other options.

To demonstrate Kokua 0.7, I put together a short screencast on Google Video:

Very nice update, however...

the click move feature works well with sectors under 10000 one above 10000 require an enter key.

The trade via click failed gives a java issue.

scan did nothing.

keep up the good work.

Looks like some excellent interface ideas. Clicking to move adjacent is a nice idea, and I really like the mapping features.

Some great potential there.

Thanks for the feedback. I fixed the enter after warp for the next version (hadn't tested all sizes of games), and could you send me the error message you get when you try to trade? The scan option doesn't work as it is just a placehold for something else.

Part of the difficulty of doing this is choosing which four or so actions are the most commonly used, affecting this sector warp menu, but also others like the trader menu to come.

What do you guys think would be the most commonly used actions for a:
- Warp sector menu
- Trader menu
- Planet menu

Warp sector: Lawnmow w/ various options
Trader menu: PPT, SSM, SDT, SST, Rob, Megarob
Planet: Nego, move product, move cols, figs, etc

I like the sector notes and the map thing. What kind of details are on the sector info when you click on it?

Some stuff to have...
Good macro/hotkey support

An info bar that has stuff like class 0s, dock, planet #, ship #, etc in it. Swath has that, very useful. Only thing I wish I could do was add new info there, so if you add a customizable little info bar somewhere... that'd rock.

These are really helpful suggestions, thanks. In Kokua, most every screen and action is actually written in Javascript (a language familiar to anyone who has written a web page) and XML (text files), so theoretically, Kokua is very customizable. I'm still working on a good way to support customizations, however, during upgrades, so perhaps that is worth spending more time on.
