For better or for worse.
Now with that out of the way, something is happening with the EIS server and I just cannot explain it.
My BBS is running on a Debian VM, hosted on a Windows 10 machine. Still working on a way to get TW functioning on Linux, but that's another story altogether.
I have EIS running on the Windows 10 OS Host, everything is configured as far as the game and server is concerned. I installed the service and ensured that it's running.
When I attempt to test the game, I receive the following results:
* Test locally - Works perfectly (127.0.0.1:customPort)
* Test internally - Using Putty or SyncTerm pointed to the private IP address and custom port
* text externally - Static IP address using the custom port (custom port is configured in the gateway and forwarded to the correct private IP) _nothing_.
I'm at a loss. Can anyone walk through some of the steps so that external players can connect? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Did you open the port in Windows Firewall? Also windows 10 will cause problems down the road. but thats a whole separate debate.
also just an FYI the Forum is pretty much dead. the few of us that are left hang out on discord. Crunchers Discord is the most popular and would get you a quicker response
