Not sure if this is where this belongs or not but I have a couple ideas for TWGS.

1) Command Center > Config > Server Settings > Require Login Name

If this is checked then have the line that says "Please enter your name (ENTER for none)" just say "Please enter your name".

Right now, if that is checked, and a person just presses enter: it says "a login name is required.", and might leave people wondering why it looks like they had a choice in the first place.

2) I'm wondering if it would be possible to have a menu for displaying txt documents or ANSI screens (Site Rules, Tips/Hints, Links etc... whatever a admin would want have available for players to read). This could be good for writing up a "new players guide" etc...

Nothing fancy like built in forums... just a simple press "~" for notices/help/notes.... whatever a person would want to call it, then just have a screen that has a list of available documents to view.

Not sure if any of these have been suggested before or not, they just popped into mind last night.

EDIT: Maybe a Logoff Screen wouldn't be a bad idea either.

A welcome screen would be nice too. Having a welcome and logoff screen might encourage TWGS operators to add some ANSI art to their servers.

Currently the only thing available is the announce.txt/ans file that is displayed before the game menu. I like your idea of an information menu though!

or how about a rules.txt/ans that could be viewed by pressing "R" at the game menu after you select a game?

These are good ideas. I'll see about adding options for what can be displayed from the TWGS menu.

Concerning the login prompt, like so many things, when I added a feature to require a name, I didn't change the prompt in order to avoid breaking any scripts that trigger on it. It's not a critical enough need to warrant potentially breaking anyone's scripts or even helpers.

The release notes for for version 2.04 says:

■ Added support for game passwords at TWGS menu

How do I enable this option?

In the game config area, where you have the password field for Admin, I added another field for Game. Just enter a pword there and it'll ask for it whenever someone attempts to enter.

So this intended to restrict access to a game without making it a "Closed" game?

Right. Just a simple way to open a game to a group of people without having to manage their accounts. Like a lobby for most multiplayer games like Starcraft, you create a game and put a pword on it. I see it working hand-in-hand with the guest-op feature where you can have someone create a game for his/her friends, then pass around the password so only those friends are allowed in. I'm already using it on the beta server for private games.

I should probably provide a way to set that from a remote connection. Right now it's only from the command center.
