Awesome to have you back..did you mean to put
the move delay to 1/3 on those unlims? Is that
just the default setting?

I just threw them up as an unedited game, I didnt look at anything and my brain has nothing in it when it comes to TWs, I have to learn everything/read everything again.

Please don't misunderstand, I just mean to point out
how easy it is to miss a setting. That's why the default
settings come out to be so important.

Glad to have ya back around man!

And imply that he should have changed it.

Darkstarbase, you'll find that the move/attack delay is one of the most controversial settings in the game now. The majority of players dislike them. I'm in the minority... I figure they add about 5 minutes to the average game session, and they limit a few types of scripted attacks, such as near-instant surround/pod/#SD#, or spamming attacks of 1 fighter as a form of DoS attack.

I'm playing Battle Pirates on facebook, and it takes a full minute for a ship to travel half way across the screen. I really don't see how anyone can complain about 250 millisonds to travel a few billion times further than that.

Mkay, didn't want to rehash the 'delays are evil' topic, as
it's been done to death. Dark asked us to come in and test
out the server. I thought it looked a little jerky and a little
slow, but now realize was just the move delay.

I can see the reason to put in a move delay, especially in a
low turn game. I was noting that even the unlimited turn
games had a 1/3 delay. No good reason to slow down an
unlimited turn game, they are all about speed.

My main point was that the default settings when banging a
game are very important to someone who is just 'banging a
quick game.' The settings should default to the most
average settings. I suppose if you wanted a delay on all
the games you routinely create, you'd want the delay set to
1/3 or whatever. I just think unlims should default to none...

Sorry, this is a bit off track. Welcome back to DarkStarBase,
you run a cool server man.

Thanks.. If I get more people playing I might keep it up and get back into it.. This is a trial run and the server will be in test mode for a short while (possible interuptions and unscheduled downtimes.. "we will see"
