Ok, I keep hearing that it is a good thing to deploy a couple figs in every sector you visit. Two questions:

1. Is this a good practice? If so, why?

2. How many figs should be deployed in each sector? Should they be defensive or toll?

Since it seems to be a fairly prevalent practice, does anyone have a script for either SWATH or TWX that does this?

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean the world's not out to get you.

1. Yes it is good practice because.
A. A hunter can better find his prey when they hit his toll figs.
II. It gives you plenty of excape twarp points if you need to get out of a sticky situation.

2. 1 Fig per sector is standard, having more than that doesn't have any noteworthy reason.

There are many different types of scripts that will do this for you. Big D's PPT/Explore script will (http://home.earthlink.net/~tradewarsbbs/GameDepot.html) this is a very slow ZOC/REXX script mind you, and also SupG's Lawnmower for TWX will do it (http://www.twtavern.com/index.php) you should be carefull with that one though it can get you into alot of trouble. Those are just a few, there are many sites with scripts so look around. ANd use TWLINKS.COM to help find them.

Also if your TWX is registered you have the worldtrade script which only drops tolls where it trades but hey its better than nothing.

A good fig grid makes it very difficult for someone to find you base, they have to actually explore instead of probe. As to defensive or toll, there are two thoughts on this. A lot of people prefer toll, that way people can pay the tolls and not kill them. Personally, I prefer defensive. Most people just kill toll figs anyway, and a defensive fig is a good way to stop a pod in space, they can't just pay the toll and continue past. For the most part, I would leave 1, but putting 20 in a sector with no port can be useful, as people d-scanning can be fooled into thinking it's a port, instead of your figs, and you can catch them with their pants down when they enter.

having more than 1 fig per sector can sometimes make a differance, if they are warping around and not scripting (yes, there are some of us that still do that) and runs into more than a few figs, he/she will have to type A then a double+ diget to kill the figs, thus giving you more time to planet drop, photon, warp there, interdict, attack, whatever you may wish to do

A 1.) Yes its a good practice , in 5or6 way warps drop one.
This helps defeat eprobe exploring.
a macro with swath F12 - "f1^Mct" w/o the "'s.
B 2.) One defencive or toll ,is enough. I prefer toll because it allows players to pay (I use this for a freind or foe finding).
either way , but sometimes in an empty sector maybe "f20^Mct"
where the "c" is for corp , "p" for personal.
just to fool those that dencity scan only
