someone explain the reasoning behind this? mainly a corp is nothing more than a bunch of flesh and blood people being dupes for the corp CEO.

Anyone want to argue that a corp filled with dupes is any less competitive than a corp full of flesh and blood working as andriods for the CEO?

I'll bite this one.

Ever try to play 5 accounts at one time. I have not, but I did play 2 on a dupe game. It is not easy. Sure the beginning part is easy. Blue colonise, red WSSM. But when the game really gets going you need to be at the keys at both times. I dont want to be flipping back and fourth trying to remember which character is which when trying to take over a base.

I also do not know if you have been a member of any really good corps or organised corps, but the CEO does not do that much directing. My corp had 3 reds and 2 blues. I was the CEO, and I would build the planets. As I was building the planets my other blue would come in and colonise behind me. I would talk to him just to tell him what planet to start on. I wouldnt even talk to the reds unless it was to find out where they were so I could come pick up some cash from them or bring them a ship.

Once everyone gets going they know what to do. They have a specific job and they do it. Without instruction. Sometimes my corpies would start a new game leave me a message where and I would just show up and start working.

SO, NO the corp is not a bunch of flesh and blood people doing work for the dupes.

Tater I somehow get the feeling that you have been wronged by someone and you have something that you really just want to get off your chest. Come on buddy let it all out. Let us hear what is really bothering you.

I'll bite on this one too, it seems that Tater got into a game like I have done at one time where there were a lot of cheating going on and got away with it too. Now he his thinking that a corp is full of Dupes that the CEO is the actual account and the members of the Corp are his dupe alias'. But rest assured that not all corps are dupes. I am a hard working CEO of my corp and I have people who are just as ambitious to play as I am in the corp too! We play by the rules and play fair by those rules, but most of all we play to win!!! Not all corps are full of dupes, as you will soon see Tater. Give it a chance and you will be surprised at what you find.

heh, ill comment before kemper gets his hands on this one :)

A)duping in and of itself is not inherently wrong. if people could dupe honestly 100% of the time i'm sure no one would have a problem with 1 guy duping a full corp to try to be competitive with a corp of 5 people.
B)duping in the past has been used in nefarious ways and was therefore banned from most servers as it only brings trouble. there are some games out there that encourage duping (dupe chess) but i would say most servers discourage duping.
C)i play games to have fun with other people on other corps and on my own. if there were 20 players in the game and only 4 real people controlling them all, what fun would that be?
D)just because you corp up with a group of people doesnt mean that you are resigned to being the CEO's *****. often in inexperienced corps most people just do their own thing and they lose. in a more eperienced corp people will know their job and ask the more experienced player questions on what to do/how to do it. on a great corp that has played together for a long time, no one asks anything, they know what each one is doing and work as a seemless machine. the latter is the best corp obviously as there is no "lag time" trying to "control" the other players.
E)i suggest to you, find some people, start corping together, find out each others stregths and weaknesses, build off of each other, learn from each other, work as a team, work FOR the team not for the individual, and you will find that you will become more competitive in this game and you will also begin to have much more fun and build friendships with other people playing this game.
F)if you are having trouble finding players or meeting people etc... i suggest you get ICQ and add 207-107-486 (myself). i have many people on my list and quite a few recently who are probably about your skill level/experience. i would be more than happy to get 3 or 4 of you together in a game and teaching and helping you all work as a corp.

i think thats all i got now... i'm pretty tired, i'll wait till K3 responds and start an arguement with him (even if he agrees with me) just because its fun, hehe.

no need to unload, just wanted to see what peoples thoughts were.

no corp has nailled me yet, and there aint any bad blood. just seems that corps make it too easy to stomp on a solo player if they wanna be d**ks about it.

right now I am playing 16 games (yes SIXTEEN) because i really like what SWATH(plug!) does and am trying to check out all it's features. about 4 of those games are being dominated by corps, with 2 of those games haveing real pains-in-the-butts for corps.

tater..

You wandered into a game my corp is trying lock down. Let give you a hint.[;)] If the game is over 30 days old, and the logs read mass photon flinging and people dying.... and three corps active, then maybe you should look elsewhere to play as a solo. Sorry man, but can't have you killing our fig grid, that's why you keep getting blown away.

no, i should be sorry, I was still learning to use swath and got the fig settings wrong. Didn't mean to blow out your grid, unless....

I try to avoid attacking deployed fighters, enless i get stuck. there was one game (in my incorrect opinion it think) that you could not move an inch without running into defensive figs. after i figgured out smartmove in swath, that fixed it.

also, you just mentioned a contradicting thought. why shouldn't i go into a game where s#|+ is happening all around, in order to improve my skills? my original post sounded like i was complaining, but i was referencing how others were having a hard time finding new players, and pointed out that newbs don't really get a chance to play in a late age game.

Go for it, just dont be too dependent on your helper programs. And try to stick with a game all the way to the "End Game/Late Game" stage, from the beginning.

Tater, if you're 1 person trying to play a game and learn as you go you just won't have much of a chance against 5 people determined to take you out. Heck, a corpie of mine and I both took out a corp that was bigger than us (4-2) but they weren't as good as we were. As for 'blowing out his grid' I would in a heartbeat and lay my own figs down as I go and not apologize a bit for it. If someone has toll figs out there, kill them. Of course the problem then arises if they're a blue player/corp figs or a reds.

Play your own game and learn from your mistakes.
