Hi all, need help with some math, was looking for formulas for setting Quasar cannons to perform a certain amount of damage each time they fire. I want to take the ore on hand and do the math on it to set it so that it will do that amount of damage. For example, if the planet held 1,000,000 holds of ore and I wanted to do 100K damage to the enemy, what formula would I use to get that figure quick and easy? Thanks for any help you can give.

For a sector shot you multiply damage by 300, then divide the result by the amount of ore on the planet. In your scenario you would set it to 30%. (100,000 * 300 = 30,000,000 / 1,000,000 = 30%)

Atmosphere is same thing except you multiply by 200, not 300.

Since you are a newbie and have a ton of questions [:)]
I figured along with your question I have tons of the answers in one page ..
a bit long winded but the formulas are their.
And if you have Excel .. a sheet to figure the cannons for you.
Both for MBBS games and Gold games.

Best way to do this is to write a script that asks for how much damage you want to inflict, then does the math for you and sets the cannons.

When someone is invading your sectors it's quicker to load the script and you can keep adjusting your cannons on the fly over and over which has the added benefit of making your invaders a bit more hesitant.

Actually the formulas are different for MBBS and non MBBS games, MBBS games do considerably more damage per unit of fuel than non MBBS games. To find out which you are playing in hit the V key and it will tell you.

ATTAC has a calculator in it for q-cannon blasts and takes into account the MMBS/non MBBS difference for sector and atmosphere. If you are willing to work backwards.... enter the blast amounts you want, it will tell you how much fuel you need and what percentage to set the cannon at.
