I am under the impression that if someone were to get blown up in a sector where all adjacent sectors contain either nav haz or figs, then instead of being put somewhere in an escape pod then it is ship destroyed, have a nice day, guess you'll have to buy a new one tomorrow. Can anyone confirm or deny this rumor?? Thanks

Pods are verry tricky
Read this page for a little more information

One thing that the document doesnt highlight is that IF a planet IG catches you then your last sector becomes your current sector, so if you get caught in someones planet ig then you need to xport out cause if they pod you then your pod WILL NOT FLY..

Hope that helps

Hard to xport out of a pod if it only beams intrasector. You'll need to tow a ship with you to the planet sector before you attack and xport into it after you get podded. It depends on the edits, you need to pay attention to them.

In some edits it is possible to have the pod changed in various ships. In the Traveller edits I am working on, there is an X-Boat Tender, and if podded the player gets an X-Boat instead of a Ship's Boat. Now in this case the X-Boat is weaker than the Ship's Boat. Nice that the XBT has 250 holds, but you run the risk of ending up in a weaker ship than a pod if you get podded. X-Boat has no pod, so if you get hit in that, you get SDed. In Traveller the X-Boat is used for sending mail, communictions, etc and was not really designed for combat. The X-Boat Tender picks up the X-Boats and services them and loads and unloads them.

I have a Completely Pointless edit I am thinking of that will use some ships as pods in other ships. So if you get podded in one ship, you end up with a different ship, and if that ship gets podded, you end up in a pod or no pod depending on the edit of the ship used as a pod.

First off, so long as the ship you are in has a pod, and you still have pods left for the day, if you get blown up you will be put in a pod. Where that pod goes depends on various factors, as described fairly acurately in the link that who gave. As to exporting, who was referring to xporting out then back BEFORE you got podded.

Sorry for the confusion, I must have read it wrong.

As long as the ship isn't podded, you can xport out of it into another ship. When I do an invasion and I know that one ship won't do it alone, I tow one or more ships nearby the base sector to transport into and then attack with them after the first ship is almost out of figs. Sometimes I twarp a planet and get shields and figs from that, as long as the planet I am invading isn't a level 6 with an IG beam turned on.
