i guess i can put this here. i just read J's game idea and its pretty much the same i had but far less competition. my idea is to open a game on a BBS and have newer players come in to learn and only to learn, maybe 5 man corps, 1 teacher per corp. this is to teach the basics and maybe eventually the intermediates of twars. i have noticed alot of new people playin these days and i would like to see them a few months down the road up to par with good players, or atleast understanding why they arent up to par and what they need to do to change it. the game is not open as i have done nothing as of yet on the BBS to make a game as my last final is in 8 hours. after that i will have tons of free time to set things up. if there is any new players who would be interested in learning twar gameplay in a non-competitive environment (no fear of dying everytime u breath, heh) then please get ahold of me and let me know. i will make it a closed game, but if u ask i will add you (unless you are super good and just wish to pod a bunch of new people in which case i will say no :P) J, i put an open invitation to you to take a corp to teach (as i see you have interest in this as well) also to anyone else willing to teach basics, also please get ahold of me and i will set you up.
now, for getting ahold of me. you can:
A)respond to this post as i check EIS forums daily
B)icq me(207-107-486) as if my computer is on, then icq is on :)
C)email me(awol_in_nd@hotmail.com) i dont check it often though
D)stop by my apartment and have a beer :)

they have been listed from easiest to hardest/unlikely way to get ahold of me. maybe B is easier than A, but A cant get deleted by accident if isp or icq does dumb stuff.

this probably wont happen soon just like J's as i would like time to set it up and get atleast one more person to help teach. i will also ask that most people interested in playing/learning to read http://www.tw-cabal.com as it will answer many questions for you and maybe help understand the answers you recieve better.

Examples: will teach the different ways to make money, what they do, what you need money for, what you can do with planets, what the differences in ships are, why one is better to have than others in certain instances. i may also open another game that i will tedit at request for people to practice what they learn IE: i want to practice invading planets. i will make the planets u specify and let u have at it (no death delay, etc..) anywho, this is probably long enough and you all get the idea, so now its up to you :)

http://www.tw-cabal.com Is indeed a great informative website, but you have to be careful which information you get, for it was lasted updated in January of 2003. Most of the things probably havent been changed and the info. is still acurate, but other info may not be. (I haven't read it in awhile, so I dont know specific's...)

Just a heads up

I saw that it said somewhere that you had to have 10 align or lower to get into the underground.. Is that correct?

If I remember correctly you have to have less than 200 positive aliment to get into the underground and the password.

to tell you the truth, I "THINK" you can get in at 10 or anything below that (I'm pretty sure at 0, i was able to)... I never heard the number 200.. (its -100 to steel or rob)

i just tested it, it is as was said. 200 blue align and you can not get into the underground, 199 blue align and you get in just fine :)
a question to the twar gods, what is with 200/199 being the cut off point for things like this and planet shields? just something someone decided on, or is there some sort of math involved to decide this?

No clue Slim. It has been that way since I started playing. Another question I'd like to raise is does the cost of changing name in underground change according to either exp or alignment? Changed my name to George Bush when I went evil in a game and it cost me over 13K creds to do that.

FC , I think the price to change your name in underground is set according to your exp level.

yes it raises according to your xp with some sort of formula, it cost me 128k once (dunno how much xp, but alot) and then i changed it once with 0 xp and it cost me 33 creds.

Yeah, tw-cabal is an awesome page. I learned loads of stuff from it, and I still keep it bookmarked for easy reference with the forumlas and citidel times. I'd be interested in the game and learning more from experienced players and really getting the basics down pat, I think I know most of it, but I still seem to get creamed when I play on the more competitive servers, so theres probably still a few holes in my game.
