I thought planets were just for an overnite stay in the relative safety of your citadel, but i've noticed they have many other funtions as well. I got some basics down but i feel there is probably something i'm missing pertaining to productivity and money matters. Any help you guys can give will be used in your total and imminent destruction,hehehe...

Have you had one dropped on your head yet? Also I wouldn't suggest staying in your citadel overnight...

Planets can do all sorts of things depending on there level. refer to this link and learn. http://www.tw-cabal.com
in most cases it is always best to cloak out in 1 or sd after extern runs.

Zip, your citadel is your stronghold AFTER it hits lev 5 and you've fully shielded it and even then you can still be vulnerable if an invader takes out your shields and destroys your planet. If that happens you go boom with the planet.

I dont stay in citadels until I have maxed planets in the sector and the doorway and all at level 6 with maxed fuel, shields, and fighters. At that point the chances of you getting killed while you are logged off over night are minimized.

If photons are turned on you still sound over confident to me. :D

Thnx for the tips and the link,...I guess planets are pretty vulnerable when you put it like that,..it sounds like the two most valuable things in the game are cloaking devices, and your skin!...

Photons have no affect on shielded planets and interdictor generators. Many a trader has died trying to take my planets, few have succeded in getting it done, at least in the last few years.

Planets are also useful for hiding stashes of cargo on them. Reds can do a steal and dump to a planet from a port and then turn around and sell it back to make a boatload of credits. Get a level 4 Citidel to do this and move it around to different ports. Or sell it back and steal it again.

I don't remember my corp ever not being able to take a sector. Few people understand how to properly setup and defend their sector(s).

Only place i would sleep is in a deadend with no port, no figs etc. So unless the person scans the sector they won't know you are there.

photons do affect shielded planets if the planet has less than 200 shields.

Yeah..once it gets down to 199 shields or less, you can then start a photon and attack invasion..the trick is timing it right to break the shields before the photon wave duration is over.
