While messing around in a private game, we were able to take the AI Gold alien home planet. But the buggers kept regenerating ships after combat.

How do you eliminate an AI Gold alien race?

Few million offensive figs, L6 planet, 5mil ore

set the cannon to the appropriate level.. should last you a few days, unless they're weak, pathetic aliens.. then it'll last you the rest of the game :)

I shall clairify a little better.

As game Op, I gave the humans trillions of dollars and custom ships with hundreds of thousands of fighters (once we realized that our test was bad and would need to be rebanged...) No matter how many aliens you killed off, in a few minutes, they would have regenerated back. Leaving tens of thousands of fighters in their home sectors just kinda, well, made them angry.

Can you truly kill off an Gold Alien race, or will it keep regenerating no matter what?.

I think they regenerate in a certain sector, I thought if you put figs in that sector that they don't regenrate, but this may not be true. It used to be if you captured the Ferrengi planet, they stopped making Ferrengi aliens, but then they changed it.

On one game, we left a few planets in their path with tons of Fuel Ore. It kept blasting them as they regenrated. Only slowed them down, didn't stop them.

Accually Orion, your 1/2 right. It used to be if you killed the 8k Ferrengi Offensive fighters, they wouldn't regenerate.

As to killing off an alien race, I believe if you set them to spawn, then no, can't kill them off.

Graz is 3/4 right.. if you killed the 8k offensive figs AND layed some of your own in sector, they won't regenerate. As soon as your figs are killed though, they will slowly come back.

As far as gold aliens I would leave them alone... no matter what you try you are wasting time and resources. They can clear 100% nav haz from their sectors, their is a game bug which allows them to clear millions of your figs and replace them with 50k of their own. Sure your cannons will kill them but they keep coming back and you are simply wasting fuel.

For the record, I've never been able to eliminate a gold alien race.

I never recalled them spawning again, with or without figs in homesector.. I'm refering to the door version, not mbbs.. I'll create a local game and check it out..

Your probably right, and I just never noticed.

Do not know if this will make any difference to you, but the game was running under TWGS full version and Gold full versions. A few game tweaks were done with universe size, players in corp and such. I used the standard built in Gold aliens for the Ferrengi, then copied from them to create a few others, but they all appear to be doing the regen thing even without home planets and sectors full of player fighters.

I have seen the TWGS log reporting them as clearing NavHaz and such, they almost appear unaffected by the loss of their home planet.

Gold Aliens will regen until the sysop turns them off. There is nothing a player can do to stop it.

Well that settles that question fully.

By chance any word on if there will be any adjustments to this in the next version?

Just watch your edits.

Your aliens can grow as fast, slower, or faster than your players. With the correct edits, aliens are a formitable enemy, that aren't too powerful.

What would be kind of cool is if they slowly spread across space, rather than just wandering around. So if you were diligent about capping or killing them, you could keep them of the MSL's...
