I just started playing in a new game and there is no colonists on terra. They appear to be generating very slowly, yet everything else in the game is cranked up to max.Is this a sysop strategy or something? I admit im very new but im registered and im learning quick.Im always open for ideas since ill be running my own server soon.

Some sysops like to put the regeneration for colonists at a slower pace. It just depends on the way you want the game set up. There are so many ways you can set up a game nowadays.

I like collies at a slow regen pace. Makes them more valuable when invading someone. You hit them and take their stuff and terra is dry, they pretty much cannot rebuild and therefore is out of the game. But if terra was fully stocked, the team you hit might try and rebuild. God knows how many times I have hit someone only to see them rebuild elsewhere.

I suppose my biggest complaint would be the fact that upon entering the game, staking out some sectors, creating a planet, and stocking it, only to find there isnt even enough collies to build a citadel on a class L planet. Then having to transport them from planet to planet.I guess there is a good reason to be there when the game bangs.I did camp out in sector 1 for awhile taking pot shots at some guys running scripts in this other game.I actully blew up one ship and he didnt know what hit him.I thought I couldnt attack in Fedspace but like I said,..I'm new.

you can attack someone in fed space if their exp, or yours, is over 1000, less than that and they're protected.

Also any red can be attacked in fed also whether they are 0 exp or over 1000 exp.
Also If a player is blue and NOT fedsafe and if he HAS to colonize, it is recommended he use a colonizng script that aborts display of both Sector 1 and his home sector as well as both the Terra planet and his planets. With less data to trasnfer, the script will move him very swiftly, even with a quarter ship delay. Said player is pretty much untouchable using said script on no-delay servers.
It is also recommended he colonize on a fully loaded ship, so that even if he is hit, he won't die and has an opportunity to stop script. I've popped many a non-fedsafe newbie and colonizing on ships with only a hundred figs on him. Heh. This one fool was colonizing in a 100 fig ISS, I nailed him, his script kept going for some reason, his pod came back to terra and I got that too. So it is recommended you be at keys if you are non-fedsafe and have to colonize. You can stop script if you get hit.

Let me be more specific,...I figured what I was doing was cheesy,(I'm REAL new!),so after I got kicked, I read the server rules,(yah,I know, shoulda read them BEFORE),saw the phrase "no duping", put 2 and 2 together and came back here to do a search,(duping wasn't actually defined on this server),read all the posts, and realized exactly how cheesy that was.One time thing,I swear!I'm not exactly Captain Integrity but I dont lie,..at the time I didnt even know if ppl played or cared,..I was just messing around and now that I know the rules better,(and know what a HELPER is),..LOOK OUT! Zipscrew's on the loose... :]

Some players use a strategy to grab all colos from Terra as fast as they can; makes it more difficult for competitors to build and become dangerous to them. KInda better to be there for game bang...if I join a game late I will check colos at Terra and check regen at the * screen to see if I would even have a chance.
