[:D] Well as with most things, it all depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.

I use SWATH. It is a helper, made for tradewars. It can run USD Scripts in JAVA or REXX. It is not free (free to try), $30.00 I think.

ZOC is a telnet client, players have written REXX scripts to use in tradewars. It is free. (it has been awhile since I used it, so I am not sure what is costs to register, or what you get by doing so).

TWX is neither, it is designed to ENHANCE some form of telnet function. It does not TELNET by itself, again it has a robust demo, but some features only get unlocked when registered. $30 I think. But again, I have the old version and a new release is in the works, not sure what gets changed, someone else surely will know...

Actually, twx will telnet by itself, but it doesn't offer any sort of display. It is a proxy program that you can use in conjunction with any other telnet application. There are no program features that are inaccessable without registering, however, registering allows access to some more complex scripts that the author has written.

[|)]Yes it can be hard to use, but what version is it? Like I said mine is old. If it is a newer version, You would be better off asking someone else...

But JIK it is same version, set your helper/telnet app to connect to TWX, not the game server. 127.0.0.1 port 23. Then use TWX to connect to the game server...

I use TWX with Swath in all my games. It works great for me so either describe your problems you are having or email me at guyrehm@gci.net and I can most likely help you with it.

[:o)]Again, you have to use another telnet app to connect TO twx. What are you using? After doing so, just (Windows?) right click on the icon that shows up and choose setup to enter the server address. Once that info is in, right click the icon again and choose connect.

If you haven't already, your first source for instruction should have been here (-(-http://www.twxproxy.com/tutorials.php?view=8-)-)

The easy way to keep it straight ...
Make address on swath to localhost and port 23 , or 20
and in twx under setup / program .. make the connect to port match.
Then they will communicate. [:)]
Remember the twx does your REAL hookup so the servers real addy is used for connection on their real port (not to be confused with twx's "listen to port" number).

And if your using multi copys (start second twx first before second swath) .. just change port on second swath to talk to the next twx.

Hope this helps.

Actually, TWX does have some issues with both SWATH and ATTAC (which I use) but Xide is getting with earth who puts out ATTAC and the maker of SWATH so that ver 2.0 will work well with both.

Like in my earlier post, I use Swath and TWX for every game and there are only 2 issues I have ever run into and those are the auto haggle needs to be off in Swath if running a TWX script that ports and trades. The other is the Twarp when ready option is Swath needs to be turned off if you are running a TWX script that twarps. Other than that I have not found any problems at all with the combination. I would suggest at least 128 meg of memory tho because Swath is a little bit of a memory hog because of the java.
