Only reason I ask is because I once had almost 2 billion credits in my citadel and I was wondering how much more I could have had in there?

I still don't get it, with that kind of money, why not KILL people? heh, I'm a newbie, please help me out. It seems to me that I'd use the billion credits to kill somebody. Just wondering.

Here's a situation for you. You have 3 teams in a game. Your team is doing well enough to take out one of the other two teams, however, the one you DON'T take out will then be stong enough to take you out, or rather, you will be weak enough. In this situation, it can be very benecial to store money. If you have decent enough ore to stop someone from coming through your door in one time, you can leave you money in the citadel making you more money. Once you have amassed enough resources to take out one of the other two corps, and still be safe, then you spend the money as needed. In this situation, it would be easy to amass a couple billion credits before you are ready to invade.

When you do get the figs from the credits, hiding them does become tricky. You dont want to let both of the other corps know the full extent of exactly how many figs you may or may not have. Chances are if their planets are tw capable, then they v screen the next time they come on and find out there has been a huge jump in the number of figs that are out there, thats a problem. Especially if they know that you know where they are at. They may just pick up and move on you before you have a chance to invade them. Then you have just wasted time and turns in a futal attempt to go nowhere quickly. Sometimes its better to buy the figs right before you invade. Preferably on the same session you plan to invade in. That way, they wont move on you. If your not going to invade quickly after buying the figs, better to spend the credits on back up ships, incase you have to moth, then buy the figs later when you are going to need them.

Also,
Don't forget you make about 2.2% a day on cash in a citadel. If you don't need the fighters for defense at that point, that's money made by just letting it sit. 1 million in a citadel make, I believe 22,000 a day. And whereas that's not a ton of money it can add up.
The operative idea here is simple, make sure your citadel is defended enough that people can't waltz in and take your cash. You wouldn't keep a safe full of money in your house if you weren't confident that it woudl be hard to break into right?
