I know that ship buyouts have been done in tourneys, but what about in a regular game where there are ridiculous amounts of gold aliens?

Will a ship buyout that is maintained keep the aliens from respawning? Or put another way, do the alien ships count against the maximum ships allowed?

That's a good question. I don't know the answer but will try to test it and get back to you if no one else does first.

Heh. These are the kind of questions I live for! IIRC, the aliens don't use 'player' ship entries, otherwise, you could modify the alien's individual ships. I think they only count against the 'player' ship limit once they get captured by a player. (i.e. they don't exist until you capture one) Checking it out now tho. I'll get back to you on this one in a few days, assuming somone don't beat me to it first. Hmmm...have to start with a script that creates all the ships, move them out of fed, then start having the aliens show up...

Well Traitor I believe you are right. If I bang a new game and It is just me, then I create 50 ferrengi. I have ship # 1 and 2. Now I go out and cap a ferrengi scorpion it becomes ship # 3. So I do not believe alien ships count in the ship count option.

Yep. I was right. The alien ships are independent of the player ship count. You can't prevent aliens from spawning by buying all the available ships. After creating all the available ships, I killed about 20 aliens, and I kept seeing them respawn in the Alien Manager.

For what it's worth, you can prevent anyone from capturing any alien ships. [:D]

Command [TL=00:00:00]:[3406] (?=Help)? : A
<Attack>
Attack Shoti Choepeth's Merchant Cruiser (49,874-1) (Y/N) [N]? Yes
How many fighters do you wish to use (0 to 10,000) [0]? 1

You lost 1 fighter(s), 49,873 remain.
For defeating this villain your alignment went up by 102 point(s).
The ship is abandoned! Its all yours!
Just as you're ready to board it, it self destructs!

There is no way to stop alien spawning , in the old days ..
you could cap alien planet and put 50k figs in orbit.
That would stop the spawning , but J.P. fixed that , and also aliens don't only spawn in their sector but also have a few spawn spots out in the universe of their own.

If you dont want aliens .. have sysop turn alien server off for that game [:)]

Simply put .. any spot not owned by the federation or a player is a spot that can be an alien spawn sector.
But actually they do not change once they are chosen by the alien server.

Please next time quate the whole sentance "also aliens don't only spawn in their sector but also have a few spawn spots out in the universe of their own."
If this needs more explanation .. email me and I'll help you understand this a bit more in detail.

I would think , to control their spawn areas would take 5k-10k fighters in that area.
My experiance is that besides their "home sectors" , they have at least 3 or more areas.

If anyone cares to do the experiment , I would like to know if blocking all the spawn areas if that would stop them.
As for me I map those areas and use that to hunt them [}:)]

You can not stop aliens from Spawning. No mater the number of figs you put in the sector of which they spawn in. They will spawn. aliens will spawn. aliens will spawn. aliens will spawn.

You can though controll the sector IE cap the ships that you want as they are spawned. that is fun.. sometimes but sometimes can be very costly in figs.

before anyone asks: No an alien isn't like a player. what I mean is when an alien spawns in a sector that you have figs canon or anything else offensive or otherwise it will not automatically assess them.

They just magically appear. if they try to leave the sector (or try to if IG is on) and return then cannon and figs will assess the aliens.

no good day is complete without a real good kill. Just ask Tekman. he is making everybodys day. LOL
