I've noticed a lack of players in the lower turn games or late, but I see new members to message group, which suggest new players. I know some people don't like to play with the more experienced players because they just get slaughtered, and it isn't much fun.
Well, this is the chance to rectify this. I am organized a pro/am game. This game will be setup with 5-6 man corps, running lower turns. Basically each team will have 2-3 experienced players, and 2-3 players who are looking for training, experience, and general game knowledge. I have started contacting people who are experienced players, as well as individuals known for their teaching skills.
The pro players are going to need to agree to let the gridding, invading, major combat go to the newer players, and sit back and do more of the relaxed furbing, farming, and directing.
This is a great opportunity for many of the newer players to get a chance to learn from people in an environment that encourages fun, as well as a chance to learn from some of the best.
I know some people just won't play in a game when they don't have a chance against the major players. So this is the chance. Please send me email at
Jhereg151@yahoo.com if you are interested. I would really like to see many people get the chance to learn from all of the great players, and go from being the guy who is the "noob who dies" to someone who understands what they did wrong, and how to correct it.
There is not bang date, I am expecting it will take me awhile to organize it all. The server is undetermined, if none of the major servers want to host it, I will open my closed server for it. The initial game will be lower turns, more stock like ships, and probably faster citadel times, and a few ship mods.
If there is a large interest, I'll continue to set these up, for as long as people are interested. Maybe changing to more heavily edited style games to teach how to analyze edits.
I know it was a long post, but I really feel strongly about this. I want people to get a chance to learn the strategy about the game. Some people may not be interested, and I respect that, but please spread the word to people who may not read this.
