A while back I read a post by Res, where he said, if the opening bid from a port selling 1 hold of equipment is 58, you've got yourself a megarob port. What's a good opening bid to buy 1 hold of equipment?

You are doing mrobs so I assume you have a mobile planet. What I do in early stages of mrob game is to write down a "buy" string of ports, in other words lay figs while writing down a string of buyers that are basically connected. I then warp the planet along that string noting what the MCIC values are for the equip. I usually upgrade only buyers that rate 60/65 or better. But you have to take location, MSL's, etc.. into consideration. Other people use "world sell" scripts etc... to unload the equipment. Most of the public planet nego scripts display the MCIC values.

first of all, res' statement is not necessarily true with regards to what constitutes a megarob port. secondly, negotiating a port to do a planetary selloff does not use the same math as selling x holds of product to that port from your ship. if you are really curious how it works, visit http://tavern.homeip.net/TWGS/haggling_lessons.cfm

But if the planet trade % is at 100. Isn't that the same amount of cash as if you were selling it from your ship? I'll give that file a look over. Thanks for the link and thanks everybody for the info.

One would think so, but when you sell from your ship, the level of your experience plays a factor in haggles. When you negotiate, experience doesn't matter.

A player with low experience (ie a blue player) can buydown a port at worst price that's selling 1 equipment for 58+ creds, and can get the port up to 3.3mil.

If you're a red player doing a bunch of megas and have a ton of experience, look for ports that are selling 1 equipment for 61-62+ creds. It's a bit harder for a red player with lots of experience to buydown a port and get it up to 3.3mil.
