LOL, it's swingy out these days.

The traffic is sectors, but the max and min spread is over 12k. We've talked about it before, the solution I used was a 2d insertion sort dealy, which worked pretty well. If the numbers had been larger tho that might not have been so good. Still the 2d array has to be dynamically defined since making it static would take too much memory, which is an inefficiency I'd like to solve.

here is the data I am collecting for a script.
1)Planet EQ
2)Planet ORg
3)Planet gas
sell the eq off as well as org but only sell the org as a by product of selling EQ. Dont move the planet to do so. buy all gas along the plotted course but only to the level nessasary to maintain current level. Each hop with the planet costs 400 gas this is 1.6 turns per hop given a 250 hold ship the cost of this gas is worth 0.3 turns approx for a total of 1.9 turns per hop to replace the gas and cash. Factor in known MCIC's vs an average for unknown MCIC  then sell product and buy gas factoring in the cost in turns for movement against  value for product and then plot the best route on a $$$ per turn basis.
sources for MCIC are ck_nego file ck.ports file and EP haggle.
not exactly find nearest fig but that what im working on.

Your example dealt with a very small amount of data. IF.. now please read closely.. IF, you're example dealt with a larger data set, *then* I would have replied with a Bucket type sort like the one Sing suggested. Is that grown up enough for you PHead?

Although I couldn't follow much of the discussion here, over my head, I saw "FIGSEC" mentioned a couple of times and i was wondering what it is. Is it something you as scripters have come up with in your code? Or is it something in the TWX not documented in the script.html file? Thanks

SetSectorParameter
GetSectorParameter

The "FIGSEC" is just one of the common ones used to keep track of fighter in your grid.

Ah, thanks Vid :D I just saw that they were using it in the code samples without a $ like you would use for a variable and it confused me. But now that you explain it, I guess they would be able to use it like "FIGSEC" without the $ since it's a parameter like CURRENTLINE or CURRENTSECTOR.
