Re: Challenge questions in the game
John Pritchett wrote: I do recognize a difference. That's why I usually talk about bots, scripts, and macros. Where I draw the line is on bots or scripts that react to player events. Bot's let other players control each other. Scripts react to a certain set of parameters that are defined in that script. Macro's are nothing more than a burst of information to accomplish 1 task. This will cause a minor annoyance to the people that like using handy scripts like: PPT, SDT, SST, Colie Scripts to mention a few. Yes it will stop bot abusers (as I call them) until they find a loophole. I for one am just not that interested in finding a work around. I personally think this is just like the low turn Classic games that everyone says they want but no one plays. They want this but most players will find it so annoying it will get turned off.

Do any of you see a problem with that attitude? If you can break it you should? It's no wonder this is a dead community. Who wants to play with you guys? Sheesh. Why can't you leave others to their own games? And why do you even care? I just don't get it.

What I'm saying is it can, and probably will be broken by some scripter out there. As long as it's an option, I don't see a problem with it.

Re: Challenge questions in the game
Thank you, BigD. That's all I'm asking. Like every other setting, if it's not your cup of tea, avoid those games, or, as an op, don't use them. As long as people force their game style on others, the community has no chance to grow. Maybe it won't grow either way, but why not try?

It's a public forum and I thought it was open for discussion, I just expressed my views that it is the same thing as low turn classic games. You bang it and wonder why did no one showed up. People like to complain, giving a solution to one problem just forces them to find some thing else to complain about. I guess I could just sit back and not say a word, but then I would have to hear later....if everyone would have said something I would have never done it that way.

As a general rule they will try to crack something just to see if they can, not because they need to. It is the freedom to tinker that drives them to it. Sometimes it is for convenience, most times it is out of curiosity. As you said- it is up to the game ops to implement this if they want to. You provide an awesome product that can be customized to fit the needs of the players. It is up to the SysOps to see and meet those needs. Don't get frustrated or discouraged. There are many out there who appreciate your time and effort.

I know that no one listens to me but did anyone notice that I said it doesn't work anyway?

Just because you couldn't make it to the stardock in a game that has been running for a long time, doesn't mean that it doesn't work. His intention was to stop bot usage only. However, you could be right in the long run.

Re: Challenge questions in the game
I would assume that he only put in the challenge questions functionality, not the blocking functionality. That way if for some reason the challenge function did not work properly, people wouldn't get blocked from playing.
Just a guess.

Excuse me for thinking you expected the game to get you to the dock safely since you were complaining about that also. Also, this is a moderated discussion forum, so the cursing really isn't called for.

Once done if you answer wrong you get to answer correctly before continuing. I know with a 50/50 chance it might take some TW players 4 or 5 tries but a few might get it right the first time.
